Making a House a Home: The Fleming Family at Eastfields

Written by Jo Bentham | Jul 5, 2024 11:00:00 AM

The Fleming family moved into their stunning home at Eastfields, Whitton in 2023 and got straight to work putting their own stamp on the place.

Benefiting from sprawling countryside views, a large garden and their own wooded area on the outside, and a spacious open-plan kitchen/diner/living area, separate lounge and snug and so much more on the inside, they had plenty to work with when making this house a home.

Q: How are you finding living at Eastfields, Whitton?
A:  We’re absolutely loving it. It’s so peaceful and tranquil.

Q: How is the surrounding area, particularly for walking your dogs?
A: It’s perfect. We love that we can just walk out of the door and whichever direction we go, we can walk for miles. We’re looking forward to exploring more over the Summer.

Q: Why did you choose your house type?
A:  The layout is perfect for our family. The gallery landing is beautiful and the open-plan kitchen/family area is great for entertaining, it’s where we spend most of our time. The bedrooms are all a good size and the two bathrooms and additional en-suite work great for us and our two boys.

Q: What's your favourite feature of your home?
A: The view when you open the front door. You can see all the way across to Honeypot Woods and for miles beyond them. It’s a real show-stopper and it still takes our breath away almost a year after moving in.

We also spend so much time in our garden. The woods included on the side of our property is our own little sanctuary. It’s a haven for wildlife – we regularly see woodpeckers, jays, buzzards, deer and most recently, hares.

Q: Which is your favourite room in your home and why?
A:  The kitchen/family room is where we spend most of our time. It’s lovely to have all the family in the same place whilst we’re cooking tea and looking out onto the garden.

Q: Where did you get your decor inspiration?
A: We both love interiors and have refurbished our last few properties. We’re always looking for inspiration wherever we go.

Q: Did you do the work yourself or did you get professional help?
A: We did pretty much all of the work ourselves. Mr Fleming is a joiner by trade but likes to turn his hand to most things, and he’s a true perfectionist.

Q:  What are your next plans for your home?
A: We’ve still got the snug to decorate which we’re planning to turn into a cosy cinema room. The living room isn’t finished and neither is the hallway. We’d like some art for the walls but haven’t found anything we love yet. We’d also like to extend the back to put a dining in as we chose to have our pool table in the kitchen/diner.

Thank you to the Fleming family for showing us around their beautiful home and giving us an insight into life at Eastfields, Whitton.
